Ryton Chorale continues with online Zoom rehearsals, and looks forward to full rehearsals again in September. In the meantime, work is now in progress on their next remotely recorded performance.
This time it is to be a madrigal by the foremost English composer of madrigals, Thomas Morley, who lived in the reign of Elizabeth I. ‘Sing We and Chant We’ is a light, cheerful madrigal, and exciting to sing. Conductor Simon Lumby has selected this new challenge for the choir to perform and to go on YouTube. The launch date has yet to be decided and will appear in next month’s edition.
Assuming everything goes ahead as planned, the concert in November will include this madrigal. The YouTube recording will give an opportunity to get a taster of the programme. Details of the concert will follow as soon as they are confirmed.
