Ryton Chorale acknowledges, with grateful thanks, the work of conductor Nicholas Thorpe, who has been with the choir on a temporary basis since the beginning of the year.

He leaves having conducted two successful concerts – the most recent one on 8th July in St Mary’s Church, Tickhill with Retford u3a Recorder Ensemble and Friends providing beautiful music to enhance the programme.

In September the choir will welcome the newly appointed Musical Director Sierra Farquhar-Wullf.

Sierra will be starting rehearsals for Verdi’s Requiem, and this dramatic choral work will be performed in Southwell Minster on Saturday 18th November. The choir will join Burton Joyce Choral Society and Southwell Choral Society to form a massed choir of 200 voices accompanied by the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra.

The Chorale will be very happy to welcome new singers who would like to be part of this performance. Rehearsals begin at 7.30pm on 4th September at Holy Family School, Netherton Road, Worksop S80 2SF.

Tickets will go on sale in September; details will be online at www.rytonchorale.org.uk and in the September edition of this magazine.
