The Ryton Chorale summer concert will be on Saturday 2nd July at 7.30pm in The Crossing, Newcastle Street, Worksop S80 2AT.
Titled ‘The High Viennese’, the programme is devoted to choral music by Mozart and Haydn, including Haydn’s Te Deum and two of Mozart’s well-loved pieces, Ave Maria and the Coronation Mass – an appropriate work in this year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!
Vienna in the time of Haydn and Mozart was the ‘Capital of Classical Music’, and both worked there for significant periods of their careers. It was a time when composers and musicians gained a higher social status, often being supported by wealthy noblemen.
Baritone soloist Matthew Jordan returns for the concert along with organist Tom Corfield. Soprano Judit Felszeghy, alto Rachel Gilmore and tenor Robin Morton complete the soloist line up. Tickets for the concert are £10.00 and are available from choir members, by phone on 01909 476402 or at www.rytonchorale.org.uk.
Finally, Ryton Chorale would like to hear from any former choir members who might like to join the 40th anniversary social events taking place over the summer and early autumn. For information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
