Local Rotary Clubs are inviting you to Musical Partnerships — a piano recital in celebration of the centenary of Rotary Foundation — on Tuesday 27th February at Hill House School in Auckley.
Rotary worldwide has a major charity called Rotary Foundation and amongst many worthwhile causes at home and abroad, it is determined to wipe out polio for ever. The proceeds of this event will go to Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.
The recital will feature the international pianist Ben Frith, who resides in North Aston, alongside Heidi Rolfe. The theme celebrates the well-documented connections between Clara and Robert Schumann and Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn, plus a fascinating lady partnership responsible for arranging Gustav Holt’s Planets Suite for piano.
Ben and Heidi will perform a terrific programme for two and, four hands. The undeniable chemistry between them being a tantalising feature of their performance.
One of Rotherham Rotary Club’s rotarians has been selected to be part of the annual mass polio inoculation programme in India. In only two days, 175 million children under the age of five will have their first or booster inoculation and it is an honour for the club to have a member selected to take part in the trip.
Tickets cost £12.00 (school pupils £5.00) and are available from Rotarians Michael Sumption (Rotherham Rotary) on 01709 541420 and Jack Cusworth (Doncaster St Leger Rotary) on 01302 539612 and the school on 01302 776300.
