Riverside Indoor Bowls

Riverside Indoor Bowls (RIBs) held their last social / fundraising event of the year at the Blues Club. The Quiz was very exciting, and the winning table claimed all the quiz money as a prize. The buffet was scrumptious, and the bowlers and their friends enjoyed chatting and catching up. There were many wonderful raffle prizes donated, helping to make a very respectable profit. Special thanks to Pat Weston, Freda Allsopp and Daphne Staff for their contributions. Denise Morgan was especially helpful as she has recently taken over some of the fundraising. Colin Ridley, Iris and Ron Mallen and Lynda Enever kept the evening going with their general organisation, making it very enjoyable.

The Trustees would like to thank all the indoor and outdoor bowlers who have supported the club over the last three years, attending various events, including recent tabletop sales, joining the West Lindsey Lottery for RIBs and waiting patiently for some ground-breaking news from West Lindsey District Council (WLDC)! The club is aware that many of its bowlers are getting older and seriously need the exercise and social side of their indoor bowling. Now, for example, many bowlers who can’t travel to other bowls halls are unable to play indoor or outdoor bowls and have no other exercise that suits them. It is heart-breaking to see their health decline.

Please continue to support RIBs in the new year; it must be proved to WLDC that an indoor bowls hall / sports centre is needed for future generations, especially as so many houses are being built in the district and Gainsborough is experiencing regeneration. A growing town needs to look after its residents, and the residents need to let their needs be known!
