Retford u3a is back in ‘meeting mode!

Finally, after 18 long months, Retford and District u3a has begun hold face-to-face meetings. They are proud of what they have managed to do via Zoom; monthly general meetings with as many as 150 attendees, numerous regular meetings of interest groups, and engage with friends from as far away as the USA and France.
Wherever possible, socially distanced outdoor activities are already happening. Your u3a committee cannot begin to tell you how encouraged they were by the members and potential new members who visited their stall for their National u3a Day in June, and told them how much you value your u3a.
By the time you see this, they will have held their first general meeting back at The Well. As they write, they are finalising plans with The Well to welcome up to 100 members in a safe and friendly environment. While there will not be a guest speaker for the first meeting, there will be lots of news about the restart of interest groups.
A last word for those who are still unsure about group gatherings: So well-received have been the Zoom meetings, a number of their interest groups, most notably Military History, have decided to continue holding Zoom meetings in addition to face-to-face starting in October. One way or another, the u3a hopes to keep all their existing members involved and to welcome new members.
