What a month has just passed for Retford u3a! Did you see their stall at the Market on the morning of their September General Meeting? It was part of their ongoing efforts to make friends and neighbours aware of everything Retford u3a offers local seniors: new hobbies, new learning, and new friends.

Their new Croquet Interest Group is rapidly taking shape alongside their fifth(!) Book Club. They now have over 30 different groups. This is the ideal time to join them to enjoy regular monthly meetings with like-minded people. Those with a more athletic inclination might like to join one of their many hiking, walking, and cycling groups. There are now three wine appreciation groups for those who prefer a more laid-back approach!

If you missed their market stall, there is still plenty coming up this month and next. As always, this month’s General Meeting will feature a guest speaker at The Well in Retford on 24th October at 1.30pm. Peter Slater will be lifting the lid on a lifetime of sports reporting. Go and hear his stories about the rich and famous.

Before that, on 11th October, they will have another Big Night Out at Retford Golf Club. 64 of them will be entertained and challenged by Sue Paul’s devilishly difficult table quiz bingo once again. Retford Golf Club has a private gated car park, so if you want to book a place for the next event in January (date to be confirmed), speak to Sue Paul or Bryan Gladstone at the General Meeting or contact Sue through the website.

Looking ahead, on 28th November, they are holding an Interest Group Showcase, an opportunity for members and the general public to see and hear from interest groups. Whether or not you are already a member, why not make a note to go down and discover how new interests and hobbies can enrich your life? Retford Life readers looking for new pastimes and friends are welcome to attend meetings. If interested, contact them via www.u3asites.org.uk or on Facebook #RetfordU3A.
