Temperatures may have been steadily high recently, but it takes more than hot weather to keep Retford u3a members at home.
July was full of outings. On 3rd July, 48 Retford u3a walkers descended on Knaresborough on a range of walks along the River Nidd and through the centre of the town. Unusually, it rained, but it takes more than rain to dampen the spirits of u3a walkers!
Also visiting Yorkshire was the military history group, which visited the Eden Prisoner of War Camp in North Yorkshire on 19th July. Next month, they are taking a coach to Bletchley Park.
At the beginning of July, the group held its latest u3a Big Night Out at Retford Golf Club. This has become a popular event that regularly sells out, so members should watch for notice of the upcoming October Big Night Out (in October!) in the next issue of the Not So Idle Times.
This month’s General Meeting is Thursday 24th August, 1.30pm at The Well. The speaker is Daniel Corr, from the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, on keeping safe and well at home. Members are encouraged to bring along any questions that they have.
