Retford u3a

A cold and wet May has not stopped Retford u3a from undertaking a full schedule of activities.

On 1st July, another full house will crowd into Retford Golf Club for the fourth Big Night Out. It’s hard to believe how quickly what started as a post-Covid one-off last October has turned into a popular regular event! It is mostly down to the organising skills of Sue Paul that they run so smoothly and satisfactorily – and with a fiendish quiz.

On 19th July, Military History is taking a coach to Eden Camp, the former PoW camp that is now an exciting living history museum outside Malton. Eden Camp once housed 1,200 German prisoners. Nowadays the former barracks houses displays, re-enactments and much more to help people find out more about WWII.

Finally in July, after a horrible year of runaway inflation many have been feeling the pinch – so the General Meeting speaker, Karen Whitlam from Bassetlaw Citizens Advice, will find an attentive audience on 27th July at the Well on Hospital Road.

The meeting starts at 1.30pm and is free to members, and to non-members who want to find out what the u3a has to offer them.
