The Retford u3a committee is pleased to confirm that two of the vacant roles were filled at the AGM in April. The new Secretary is Pamela Mann, who also leads the Poetry Group, and the role of Group Co-ordinator will be carried out by two new members, who will work it as a job-share. They are Caroline Marsh and Carol Knowles. Andy Paul has agreed to take over from Mick Morritt as Inventory Keeper. The posts still vacant are for a Vice Chairman and Speaker Finder.

After the AGM, the Recorder Ensemble entertained their audience with a great selection of music, many of the tunes relating to special interest groups which the audience had to guess at. They were also invited to sing along to some of the well-known melodies.

At the meeting on 26th May the speaker was Robert Garland from Bassetlaw Food Bank, who gave a fascinating talk about its creation and the wonderful work it does in the community. He kept his audience enthralled and many questions were posed by members at the end of his talk.

The speaker for 28th July, David Skillen will give his take on the ‘History of the Monologue’. An event to look forward to.
