Retford Textile Group

by | 26 October 2025 | Community Focus, Hobbies, Library, Retford

An amazing array of designs were produced at October’s monthly meeting of Retford Textile Group. The theme was Halloween. Well done to all members. Everyone looks forward to seeing completed designs on home furniture items like cushions, quilts and even caravan bunting.

Now it’s full steam ahead with Christmas celebrations. With two Christmas-themed church festivals to cater for, members are delighted to be actively involved with both Retford’s Grove Street Methodist Church’s Star Festival and St Swithun’s Church’s Christmas Tree Festival at the end of November. Some committee members have already been experimenting with various design ideas around the themes of light and hoop art, all of which will form the focus of November’s meeting.

This lively group of 20 members from across the North Nottinghamshire area is a not-for-profit organisation which meets monthly at Grove Street Methodist Church. They welcome members from a variety of different textile backgrounds and experiences to share their love of all things textiles and to have fun! Exhibition

Retford Textile Group is delighted to be showcasing some of its members textile work at Retford Library from Monday 3rd November to Friday 19th December. It is open during normal library opening hours and entry is free. This exhibition will include many original design ideas produced by members during the course of the year as well as some seasonal gifts which will be for sale. This is the group’s first exhibition and they hope the wider community will enjoy visiting it as much as they have enjoyed designing / making it.
