Could you give an hour of your time to support this year’s Poppy Appeal in Retford and the surrounding areas? The Poppy Appeal makes a real difference, but your help would be appreciated in our local supermarkets to man the stands. If you are interested, please contact Retford and District Branch of the Royal British Legion Secretary Ann on 01777 818993 or 07377 794790.

Moving on to a slower pace, have you got anything planned for Wednesday 2nd September? If you’re part of the Armed Forces Community, you’re invited to September’s Veterans’ Coffee Morning at The Well Church in Retford from 10.00am to 12.00pm. Pop in for a relaxed chat with old friends, meet new people, and enjoy a warm drink.

On Sunday 6th September, the branch will be at the Classic Car and Motorcycle Show on Scrooby Road, Bircotes. Whether you’re a classic vehicle enthusiast or just there to enjoy the day, visit their stall to meet the team, chat about what they do and find out how you can get involved.

Then, it’s the branch’s General Meeting at Babworth Sports and Social Club on Monday 7th September from 7.30pm. everyone is welcome and can learn about what’s planned for the coming weeks and months. This year marks the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Service of Thanksgiving, honouring the bravery of those who served during the Battle of Britain. The Retford & District Branch of the Royal British Legion would like to invite members of the Armed Forces Community and members of the public to attend this year’s Service of Thanksgiving at St Michael the Archangel Church, Retford on Sunday 13th September at 9.30am.

A big thank you to everyone who has knitted, crocheted or crafted poppies for the planned Field of Remembrance. Your support is very much appreciated.
