The Retford and District Photographic Society’s 2017 – 2018 season moves into its second half in January with the excellent news that Des Lloyd, one of the society’s joint ‘Photographer of the Year’ winners from last season, has had four images accepted by the regional NEMPF (North and East Midlands Photographic Federation) adjudicators.
His ‘Singing Whitethroat’ was ‘Commended’. Des’ images will feature in the NEMPF Exhibition at Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham between 6th January and 10th February, which will be open seven days a week between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
The society has already enjoyed some excellent speakers and three club competitions this season, showing that members were busy in the summer preparing their new work. Members still have a lot to look forward to with some different types of photography on the agenda alongside the more traditional.
After a taste of ‘A bit of Everything’ from John Gardener they have ‘Marine Photography’ from Andy Colls of the Shark Trust and in February ‘Astro Photography’ from Dave Eagle. There is also another of James Davies’ excellent practical portraiture nights on the programme in April.
With these and several other speakers and club competitions to enjoy, it is certainly not too late to make a New Year’s resolution to come and join the society. You are welcome to attend three meetings before deciding if we are for you and committing to joining. Members do hope you will come and look forward to welcoming you.
Weekly meetings continue until May 2018. For more information see the 2017-2018 programme on www.retford-photographic.co.uk.
