Retford Mens’ Probus Club

After a very well attended and successful start to the new season of Probus meetings starting with Roy Evans talk on the history of the Secret Service (and yes, he’s still with the club) on Friday 6th September the information was warmly received by those present. This was followed on Friday 20th September by author and broadcaster Anthony Scott, who addressed the membership on the problems and obstacles encountered when attempting to get books into print.

With three successful attempts under his belt the speaker outlined the characteristics he thought were needed to get publishers to sit up and take notice of any submissions made by budding writers. A daunting task! A question and answer session after the initial talk revealed one or two members have also had books published and encountered similar problems and shared them with the speaker. A very informative and educational presentation and another success for Retford Mens Probus Club.

On Friday 4th October, Doctor Paul Roebuck enlightened members with the value of ‘The Periodic Table’.
Retford Men’s Probus Club has been running since 1971. Their meetings take place at the Westhill Community Centre, Ordsall at 10.00am every other Friday. If you would like to go along to a meeting, please see or contact Retford Men’s Probus Club, by email or call the secretary on 07542 852037.
