At Retford Mayflower WI’s September meeting the members enjoyed an informative talk and slide show by Julian Ellis on the ‘Framework Knitters and Luddites’. In the preserved frame shop at the museum in Ruddington visitors can see 200-year-old knitting machines working, discover how the framework knitters lived and worked in Victorian times and find out about the families who used to live in the cottages. Perhaps an outing for a future date!
The AGM took place in October, followed by a quiz.
At the next meeting on Wednesday 9th November there will be a talk entitled ‘Tax Care and Toy Boys’. What a title – sounds intriguing! Visitors are always welcome (at a small fee) to Stephen House at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month. The 2023 programme has already been planned and the group looks forward to seeing you.
