Friday 21st June is the first day of summer and Retford will be alive with music throughout the day.
Retford Make Music Day is part of the world’s largest annual music festival with free events in the Market Square, Carolgate and Retford Library.
Performing throughout the day from 9.30am onwards will be Retford and District Pipes and Drums, the Pfungstadt Accordion Band, Retford U3A Recorders, Worksop Swing Band, Retford Community Singers, the North Notts Makaton Choir and other musicians.
Worldwide, thousands of musicians, of all ages, skill levels and musical persuasions will perform in public, celebrating music in all its forms and encouraging everyone to join together and play music.
Other groups are very welcome to have a slot and join the celebrations, including soloists.
In previous years, people have loved hearing the music around them and listening to familiar and not so familiar tunes. Young children are fascinated by the various instruments and sounds!
