The Retford Lions Club extends its gratitude for the generous support received from the people of Retford. During December, Santa’s sleigh brought joy to approximately 2,000 children, and donations totalling nearly £4,000 were collected. Every penny raised will be used to help those in need or to support carefully selected charitable causes. No funds will be deducted for administration, and the majority of the money will benefit the Retford area. All applications for assistance are assessed on merit, with the Club striving to provide either financial support or practical help.
Since July, the Lions have allocated:
- Nearly £2,000 to improve comfort for hospital patients and their families.
- £6,000 to support local hospices.
- £2,000 for gifts to children and others who might otherwise have gone without at Christmas.
- £2,000 for basic home comforts for individuals living in poor conditions.
Additionally, in response to the devastating floods in parts of Retford, the Lions provided £500 grants to affected households to assist with the clean-up efforts.
The Lions encourage continued community support to help them carry on this vital work.
With spring approaching, the Club eagerly anticipates the blooming of the daffodils planted in October. This year’s display promises to be even more impressive, with additional planting sites enhancing the spectacle.
