Retford Lions recently provided CPR and defibrillator training to nearly 60 children at Carr Hill School. These crucial skills can save lives during a cardiac arrest, which can affect anyone, regardless of age. The Lions aim to equip as many people as possible with the knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies.
To date, the Lions have trained over 500 individuals in various locations, including village halls and sports centres, and are eager to expand their efforts. The training is offered free of charge. For those interested in arranging a session for their group, please contact Bruce on 01777 704154 to discuss details.
In July, the annual Ted Waterfield Memorial Golf Tournament was held on a sunny, cloudless day. Forty teams of four competed on the well-maintained greens of Retford Golf Club.
After many near misses, the winners were S Brain, P Clemence, R Cream, and C Smith, with a score of 97 points, playing in a 4-ball Stableford format. The ladies’ winners were C Mellors, D Vos, J Sumner, and C Rainer, with 87 points.
The Lions raised approximately £6,500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Bassetlaw Hospice. Cheques were presented at the golf club on 16th August.
