With householders in certain parts of the town still cleaning up after a flurry of storms which left them helpless, Retford Lions were pleased that to help these people in their hour of need by giving monetary grants.

Householders in need applied to Lions for one-off grants to assist with the awful situation some people found themselves in. Grants of up to £250 were approved to 29 households and a total of £7,000 was allocated to the fund.

One resident said: “Retford Lions were really kind. They were a helping hand at an extremely stressful and emotional time. For the Lions to come and help with financial support, which was unexpected, was so kind when we were most in need.”

Hopefully the weather has not adversely affected the bulbs planted by the Lions last autumn. Retford Lions await in anticipation the blooms which were put in the ground in October to give the town its spring boost of colour.
