Retford Lions are busy making plans for Santa’s visit in December, and foremost in these is an upgrade in his sleigh. It has been refurbished by Lions Kirsty and Ben, with a new coat of paint, a new PA system and the addition of new lights.
Plans are also in place deciding the routes and stops in Retford and district. This planning gets more difficult every year, with new estates springing up in and around the district, and although best efforts are made, some areas will miss out.
A list of visits will be published in the local press and on social media, so go and say hello or give him a wave.
With spades and wellies at the ready, several intrepid members will be out and about planting daffodil bulbs in locations in and around Retford. The planting has been carried out for many years, and the fruits of the Lions’ labours can be seen with the magnificent displays in the district at the start of spring. Every year new areas are planted to further enhance the displays.
Retford Lions are continuing with their CPR and De-fib training sessions, with two in November and a potential event in Clarborough. This community service is provided free of charge and could potentially save a life. Watch local press and social media for a venue near you.
