Long queues and smiling faces proved testament to the success of Santa’s first visit to Retford in 2022 – at the Christmas Market on 27th November. He took up his position in the Grotto, where he greeted the town’s children and listened to their wishes. His final duty before he left was to turn on Retford’s Christmas lights.
Retford Lions would like to thank everyone who supported the club throughout a challenging 2022. Without the support of local businesses, many Lions events would not be possible. A massive thanks goes out to the members of the public who gave during their street and static collections with Santa.
In these difficult times it is heartening to see the people of the town still prepared to help those in need. Finally, many thanks to Chanel of Retford Life magazine for her continued support. (No problem! – Ed)
Looking forward to 2023, it is likely to be another difficult year for fundraising and the club is already pencilling in events on its calendar. As well as the usual, Lions will be helping other groups such as Retford Athletics Club with their events.
Information on their activities will appear in this magazine and on social media.
