It may be a strange time of the year to think about spring, but at this time every year Retford Lions are out and about searching for areas to plant daffodils to brighten the springtime in Retford and district. This investment takes place every October, with new areas added annually.
Preparations are in full swing in the renovation of Santa’s sleigh. It has been overhauled with a new coat of paint and other upgrades to show off Santa when he comes to Retford in December.
Following last month’s presentation by the Food Bank manager, Retford Lions presented a donation of £700 towards the new mobile shop which launched in October delivering affordable food to outlying districts.
An increase in the numbers of children attending a breakfast club at Hallcroft Infant and Nursery School was supported by Lions this month with a donation. This ensures that the children get a good start before school commences.
The Club hopes to carry out a cheque presentation to Ranby Junior School this month. Lions have supported the school by providing kit for the football team.
The last car boot sale took place at the end of September, with that hope that numbers will increase next year. The sales have had moderate success and will continue probably from April next year.
Lions are continuing CPR training, with the latest free session at Gamston School. The training is available to all groups on request.
