Retford Ladies Probus Club’s Annual General Meeting garnered a healthy number of members. Angie Haynes agreed to continue presidency so, together with new committee members coming on board, the Club is now in safe hands for the coming year.
Speaker Anette Taylor was introduced and in her topic ‘All At Sea’ shared stories with her working life on cruise ships, together with her husband. In spite of spending decades ‘holed’ up in a tiny cabin together they are still married!
They started in the days when cruising was only for the few who could afford it and an entirely different experience to the ships which carry thousands of passengers nowadays.
Anette spoke about some of her favourite places on the cruise path and amused her audience by talking about some of the questions people ask.
The club’s next meeting is on Wednesday 12th March, at 10.00am for 10.30am at Westhill Community Centre, when Ian Morgan’s talk is entitled ‘Pieasure Palace’, but it’s actually about Bolsover Castle. All are very welcome.
