Retford Cricket Club has recently unveiled the amazing results of their investment to significantly refurbish and modernise their clubhouse facilities. The changing rooms now have a far better appeal for both home and visiting teams, and the ablutions have a much more luxurious feel.
For you, the reader, these facilities and grounds can be hired for other events at any time of the year, with or without the licensed bar. They’ve hosted birthday parties (oodles of space for bouncy castles), social group meetings and car boot sales, to name but a few.
It is not just club members’ money which has been invested. Retford Cricket Club relishes the invaluable financial support from Nottinghamshire Local Communities Fund grants to make these most recent updates; previously they’d provided funds towards the bar refurbishment in 2021. For this project the club is also hugely grateful for the fantastic assistance of some local sponsors, most notably One Call Insurance and Howard Farms among others. These along with their other sponsors help benefit the thriving and inclusive family cricket club in the heart of Retford with the best beer garden in town!
As part of a rolling improvement plan, discussed at their recent Open Forum Evening, future aspirations include the erection of permanent outdoor cricket nets with artificial playing surfaces using specialist skills offered both by club members and bought in from local businesses. Additionally, improved accessibility, and female-only changing rooms and facilities to support the club’s promotion of the women’s game.
