Retford Cricket Club (RCC) is once again revelling in the sound of leather on willow as the 2025 season gets into full swing. A string of pre-season friendly matches have helped the four senior teams transition from indoor training to full match play. There will be matches on both days of most weekends throughout the summer, taking on local club teams. What a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and the fabulous facilities at the family club, in the heart of Retford.

To give back to the Retford community, RCC are sponsoring the group ‘Nordic Walking for people living with Parkinson’s Disease,’ who are, “excited to be using the beautiful and accessible Retford Cricket Club grounds!”

As a sports club, RCC are keenly aware of the benefit of exercise; proven to slow down progression of the symptoms of ailments such a Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Nordic Walking goes one step further! With exaggerated movement – arm swing and stride – plus the benefit of poles to help with stability and balance, Nordic Walking is fast becoming one of the best forms of exercise to keep people with PD moving and active.

The sessions focus on balance and coordination and help participants exercise in a safe and effective way. Classes are 45 minutes long and cost £3.00 per participant. Each person may bring along a companion to take part as well who can join in for free. To book or for more information: www.sherwoodnordicwalking.co.uk.

Back to cricket and RCC are relishing the return of the fabulously fun Friday family evenings, grounds full of junior players honing their skills as the women’s team also rebuild their skills. And there’s plenty of space for new players or members to enjoy what the club offers. For more, follow them on the socials, visit www.retford.play-cricket.com or email retfordcricketclub@gmail.com. You’ll be made very welcome.
