Retford Community Singers

Retford Community Singers’ new season starts on Tuesday 7th September, 7.00pm to 8.30pm in Chapelgate Hall, to the rear of Grove Street Methodist Church, DN22 6LA.

They welcome everyone, whatever your previous experience of singing, or even if you’ve never sung in a group before. September is an excellent time to try it out, though you can join at any time of year, too.

They are led by Janet Wood, an exceptionally talented singer / songwriter who has guided the choir since it started in 2012. Her long experience enables the Singers to produce great sounds, with a very varied repertoire. Listen to a sample of their singing on their website or go along and hear them live on Heritage Day in Retford on Saturday 9th September – they will be in the Town Hall Council Chamber from 10.45am for ‘A Song in an Hour’ celebrating creativity in Retford!

Last season also saw some members returning from before Covid, who are equally welcome. As a community choir their emphasis is on singing for pleasure and wellbeing, with two or three informal performances a year. Their repertoire ranges from folk, gospel, classic pop songs and many wonderful items written especially for their kind of choir, or drawn from around the world, mostly in harmony, following the practice of the Natural Voice Network, www.naturalvoice.net.

The cost is just £5.00 per session, half price if on means tested benefits. Find them on Facebook or see www.retfordcommunitysingers.co.uk.

No need to book, but for further information contact them via their website or call 01777 704154 or 01777 704038.
