New members are always welcome at Retford Bowls Club. Taster sessions will be held every Saturday throughout April, starting on Saturday 11th April, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, offering a great opportunity to try bowls in a supportive environment. The club will also hold an Open Day on Saturday 2nd May at its Hallcroft Road clubhouse, where visitors can meet members, explore the facilities and find out more about the club.
With a history spanning more than 125 years, Retford Bowls Club remains one of the town’s longest-established and most welcoming sporting organisations.
Run as a members’ limited company, the club is owned and managed by its members, who are also shareholders. This helps maintain a strong community spirit and ensures the club continues to thrive for future generations.
Outdoor bowls are at the heart of the club, but there is plenty more to enjoy. A lively social calendar includes canasta sessions, indoor curling and indoor bowling, along with popular cake and coffee mornings that bring members together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The clubhouse also features a fully licensed bar and a snooker room, making it a year-round social venue as well as a sporting club. Regular events and informal gatherings mean there is always something happening both on and off the green.
Whether you are looking for competitive sport, a new hobby or simply a friendly place to socialise, Retford Bowls Club offers something for everyone.
The club has also been selected to host two prestigious events this year – the Great British Bowls National Events and a Nottinghamshire County Final in August – recognising the high standard of its green and facilities.
