The bowling season is now underway, and league matches and internal competitions are now in full flow.
Retford Bowling Green has had a great start to the season with its Open Day and Coaching Sessions both being very well attended. It has been wonderful seeing lots of new faces, both young and old on the green trying bowls.
There have been two major Sunday competitions. First was the Secretaries Fours, which is a full day’s competition that has teams bowling Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours matches with the team winning most matches taking away the trophy. The winning team was Fred Mills, Sue Mills, Liz Brammer and Rob Clark.
The second major competition of the year was the RBG Open Pairs, featuring men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams. At the end of the day there were only two unbeaten teams: ladies’ pair Gilna Williamson and Mary Stanner and men’s pair Richard Fowler and Rob Clark. These teams played off in the final and the ladies came out on top with an outstanding display of bowling.
