Retford Bowling Green recently held its 125-Year Celebration Dinner, in the clubhouse on Hallcroft Road. The Mayor, Councillor Sue Shaw, gave a short speech along with club President Helen Worth and Gents Captain Chris Bromley.
They gave a brief glimpse of the club’s history and there was a theme around ladies joining the club, which first happened in 1984. Ladies are now very close to being 50% of the membership, currently at 53 male bowling members and 47 female. It won’t be long before ladies are in the majority.
Bassetlaw Museum is now holding its ‘Bowled Over’ exhibition celebrating 125 years of Retford Bowling Green. This will run until November. Entry is free so please drop in and take a look.
