The first event of Retford Bowling Green’s 125th year celebrations has been held. Club Captain, Carol Norman, created a new format for the day, that started with an individual element with the highest ranked players being formed into teams at the end of the day.

The first winners from the individual element of the day were Geoff Evans and Helen Worth.

The final team winners from a play-off match, were Keith Towriss, Helen Worth and Richard Fowler. The runners up were Gilna Williamson, Dougie Kirkland and Shirley Pickersgill.

The fundraising activities on the day raised £90.00 for the Bowling Green solar panel fund and £113.00 for The Chesterfield Canal Trust.

The Club’s Open Pairs has also been held. Each pair played three matches and when all three matches were completed there were three unbeaten teams. The unlucky third place team, based on points difference and ends won, were Mandy and Chris Cooper.

The other two teams played off over eight ends in the final and the winners were Sue Bradford and John Harrison. Well played to runners up Jane Barlow and Rob Clark.
