The major bowling competitions have started at Retford Bowling Green and the club has recently held its first sponsored competition – The JG Catering Mixed Triples.
The winners were Dave Lee, Ann Lee and John Harrison who were presented the trophy by Joan Goodman from the sponsors JG Catering. The runners up were Chris Bromley, Carol Norman and Ben Palmer.
The club offers a huge thank you to JG Catering, who brought along a fantastic cake in the shape of a bowling green and a plentiful supply of gorgeous cupcakes.
At the beginning of June, the ladies held their Queen’s Platinum celebratory rinks. They looked splendid in their red, white and blue regalia and had a wonderful cream tea afterwards. Both social and bowling members joined in the celebration.
On the day the winning rink score was 22; the winning team was Anne Lee, Janet Duke and Liz Brammer.
A lovely day was had by all, and many thanks go to Lady Captain Carol Norman for organising the day.
The first major competition of the season was held in glorious weather back in May. This was The Secretaries Fours, and the winners were Richard Jenkins, Bob Bagshaw, Helen Worth and David Sly. The trophy was presented by current secretaries David Lee and Geoff Evans. The runners up were John Harrison, Keith Towriss, Gilna Williamson and Craig Chadburn.
