As part of the annual opening of the green, club President Helen Worth also unveiled the obelisk, which has been built to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Retford Bowling Green.
The President thanked everyone for their hard work over the closed season and remarked that the Bowling Green and surrounds look wonderful. In her comments she reminded everyone that this was the start of a fantastic year, and we should also take a moment to remember those past members who made it possible. The use of the bowls (which are all from past or present members) in the celebratory obelisk was a fitting way to remember them all.
She also thanked Stewart Vanstone, a club member, for his work in erecting this monument.
The unveiling was followed by tea, coffee and cake in the clubhouse and members then proceeded to take the opportunity to bowl.
