Retford Authors Group, for locally published writers, continues to meet at the Best Western West Retford Hotel on North Road, Retford. Meetings take place at 10.30am on the first Wednesday of each month and at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of each month. The group has been running successfully since 2018. Morning meetings include coffee and cake, while evening meetings offer the opportunity to enjoy a drink – alcoholic or non-alcoholic – in a relaxed setting.
The meetings are friendly and informal, with members attending from Retford and surrounding areas including Worksop, Gainsborough and Southwell. Attendance typically ranges from five to fifteen members.
Each December, members enjoy an annual Christmas dinner together, which is always well attended and appreciated. At regular monthly meetings, members discuss all aspects of book production – from the initial idea and writing process through formatting and on to publication. The group includes writers working across a wide range of genres, including children’s books, novels, fiction, non-fiction, history and science. In short, all subjects are welcome.
