The Retford Arts Hub Coronation window display was splendid and the large Union Jack Flag, ‘hand’ painted by local children, was the centrepiece.
There were locally handmade bunting for sale, cushions, bags and many other Coronation memorabilia. If you missed out on these, there are still plenty of lovely handmade gifts and cards for sale in the shop, so do go along and support local artists and makers.
The Kip Combes exhibition of beautiful watercolours continues in Retford Arts Hub’s refurbished gallery into June and is not to be missed. Kip was a local (Worksop) artist who painted local scenes as well as scenes in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and Norfolk. Some paintings are framed and some are mounted and all are for sale.
There is a lovely pencil portrait of Kip by his son, Richard Combes who now lives in America and is an accomplished and well known artist.
If you fancy having your own exhibition, you can rent out this lovely gallery. Get in touch with them if you may be interested.
Volunteering at the Arts Hub is another way to support this Community Interest Company and they will be glad to tell you about the exciting opportunities that are available to you. Email them at info@retfordartshub.com.
