Retford Arts Hub on Cannon Square, have a lot of amazing opportunities, whether you are artistic or just like being around beautiful locally handmade items.
They are a Community Interest Company and are looking for new volunteers to join the team to support local artisans. There are lots of opportunities to get involved, including to help out in their retail shop, exhibition areas or help with advertising or administration. The Hub also run classes every week and they are always looking for new classes to add to their programme. This currently features:
- Knitting and crochet classes for beginners with Chris throughout the year. A four-week course costs just £40.00. Call Chris for more details on 07925 489070.
- Sewing machine classes to make all things bright and beautiful for your home, or a gift, with Angela Morris. Weekly sessions run on Fridays at 10.30am to 12.30pm and cost £15.00 per session (use of sewing machine and all fabrics and materials included).
- Creative sewing and garment making skills with Jane Straker. Weekly sessions run on Fridays, 1.00pm to 3.00pm and cost £10.00 per session. Bring your own materials (use of sewing machine and tuition included).
- Starting to paint courses using various media. A four-week course on Wednesdays 10.30am to 12.30pm. The cost is £48.00 (materials and cuppa included). Places are limited.
A Children’s Art Club takes place on the second and fourth Saturdays in the month from 10.30am to 12.00pm, costing only £2.00 per child (due to sponsorship from Retford Art Society).
