This month, Retford Art Society is looking forward to its coach trip to Holmfirth Art Week on Saturday 11th July. There are still a few places available for what promises to be a wonderful day out. The event enjoys strong local support while also attracting a national reputation, making it well worth a visit.

The coach will leave Kettlewells Yard at 8.15am and return at approximately 6.00pm. The cost is £15.00 for members and £20.00 for non-members. To reserve a place, email retfordartsociety@yahoo.co.uk or text Paul on 07852 932137.

A painting workshop has also been organised for Saturday 27th July. Led by artist James McGairy, the workshop will focus on painting water in a landscape using acrylics. It will take place at St Saviour’s Community Hall from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The cost is £25.00 for members and £30.00 for non-members.

Visitors to the Society’s spring exhibition selected Christopher Cook’s painting of trains as their favourite artwork. Members are invited to reflect on whether they agree with the public’s choice.

Evening life drawing sessions continue at the Swan Studio on Wednesday 2nd July and Wednesday 16th July. Sessions run from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, with a coffee break included. The cost is £7.00 for members and £10.00 for non-members.

Anyone considering joining the Society can now take advantage of a half-year membership for just £15.00.

The Swan Studio is also open to members and anyone wishing to paint or draw in the company of others. Sessions take place on Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm to 9.00pm and Friday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Help and encouragement are always available.

The Swan Studio can be found at the bottom of Carolgate, under the archway and above the bike shop.
