Reford Art Society’s final workshop of the year will have a wintery, Christmassy theme and will be led by renowned artist Cath Inglis. Based in Yorkshire, Cath has delivered many workshops for the SAA and will be visiting Retford Art Society for the first time. She will demonstrate how to paint a hare in the snow – a perfect seasonal subject.

The workshop will take place on Saturday 29th November from 10.00am to 3.00pm at St Saviour’s Community Hall. The cost is £25.00 for members and £30.00 for non-members. Bookings can be made by calling Jill on 01777 248285 or emailing retfordartsociety@yahoo.co.uk.

Life drawing sessions continue in the Swan Studio, though these will be the final ones of the year. They will be held on Wednesdays 5th and 19th November from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The cost is £7.00 for members and students, and £10.00 for non-members.

The society’s exhibition Swan Studio Art has been running at Bassetlaw Museum since September and continues until 8th November. Entry is free, so be sure to visit before it closes and enjoy the diverse range of work on display. The Autumn Exhibition opened on 28th October at the welcoming Grove Street Methodist Chapel. Visitors can browse fresh new artwork and enjoy a warm drink while viewing.

The exhibition is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm until Saturday 8th November. The Swan Studio will also remain open every Tuesday evening from 7.00pm to 9.00pm and Friday afternoon from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. These informal sessions are especially popular with beginners. There is no charge, and non-members are warmly welcome to come along for encouragement and friendly guidance. The Swan Studio is located at the bottom of Carolgate, underneath the arch and above the bike shop.
