Retford Art Society is launching a new venture this year with a planned series of coach trips. The first outing is to Birmingham City Art Gallery on Thursday 12th June. A workshop led by Greta Vildaite will take place on Saturday 28th June at St Saviour’s Community Hall from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The focus will be on still life using oils. The cost is £25.00 for members and £30.00 for non-members. Workshops are designed to help participants learn and develop new skills in a friendly environment. The Spring Exhibition at Grove Street Methodist Chapel has once again proved a popular meeting point for visitors enjoying the display of local artwork alongside refreshments. The next exhibition will be held at the Museum, running from Wednesday 3rd September to Monday 3rd November.
Life drawing sessions continue at the Swan Studio on Wednesdays 4th and 18th June from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The cost is £7.00 for members and £10.00 for non-members.
The Swan Studio also opens every Tuesday evening from 7.00pm to 9.00pm and Friday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. These sessions, increasingly popular with beginners, are free of charge and offer a warm welcome and encouragement to non-members. The Swan Studio is located at the bottom of Carolgate, underneath the arch and over the bike shop.
