The outdoor painting group at Retford Art Society has been making the most of the warm weather and getting out and about. Those interested in joining their various autumn outings are welcome to contact them at retfordartsociety@yahoo.com. New members will be gladly welcomed.
The Society is preparing for its autumn exhibition, which will showcase an expanded collection of paintings. The exhibition will be held from Tuesday 29th October to Saturday 9th November at the Grove Street Methodist Chapel, a venue that was both comfortable and welcoming this spring. Membership fees for the remainder of the year have been reduced to half price – £15.00 for adults and £7.50 for those under 18. If interested in exhibiting your paintings, now is a great time to join.
October will feature a workshop led by Derrick Spence on Saturday 19th October. Derrick will focus on techniques for depicting animals, including both drawing and painting. Booking is through Jill at 01777 248285 or walkerjilly@outlook.com. The workshop will take place at St Saviour’s Community Hall from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The cost is £25.00 for members and £30.00 for non-members.
Life drawing sessions will continue at the Swan Studio on Wednesday 9th October and Wednesday 23rd October, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The cost for non-members is £7.00.
The Swan Studio remains open for communal painting on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm to 9.00pm and Friday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at no cost. Newcomers are welcome, and the Society looks forward to supporting and encouraging them. The Swan Studio is located at the bottom of Carolgate, through the archway and past the bike shop.
