Retford Archaeological Metal Detecting Club

by | 20 April 2024 | Hobbies, Retford

Would you like to be involved in the setting up of a local metal detecting club?

To date there are no such groups or clubs in the locality. Most metal detectorists are members of the National Council for Metal Detecting (NCMD), which is recognised by the government as the representative of this widespread hobby.

The problems faced by individual detectorists are many. All need permission to detect on private land and even on public land no detecting is allowed, so each must rely on the good will of landowners to grant permission.

Members of the NCMD are one step ahead of others since they all are agreed to stand by certain standards of behaviour and conduct. All can be struck off if they stray from these standards. All such members are fully insured.

So, if you would like to join this most enjoyable hobby, why not help set up this new local group? Experienced or new to the hobby all are welcome; join in and show your finds, share your experiences. Don’t work alone. Treasures are of little or no worth if the finds are not properly recorded; let the group help you do that!
