On Saturday 7th September in Ordsall Parish Hall, Church Lane, Ordsall, there will be Ordsall’s very first scarecrow drive. A scarecrow drive is like a beetle drive but with scarecrows and will start at 6.30pm — think of it as a beetle drive with a difference. Instead of racing to build a beetle, families and friends will be rolling the dice to build a scarecrow. There will be prizes for the overall winner, and for the person with the lowest score of the evening. Tickets are £1.00 per person and available from Ordsall Church on 01777 702515.
11TH ANNUAL ORDSALL SCARECROW FESTIVAL
Ordsall village (and beyond) will be dotted with scarecrows over the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September. Local groups and businesses, along with schools and families have been busy over the summer creating wonderful entries for this year’s festival. Make a visit over the weekend and enjoy spotting the scarecrows. Festival maps go on sale in early September, so look out for the golden maps so that you can enjoy picking and voting for your favourite scarecrow in either of the two competitions. Refreshments will be available on Saturday from Ordsall Church and on Sunday from the Parish Hall where young scarecrow spotters can pick up their ‘I’m a Scarecrow Spotter’ sticker, so why bring along all the family and enjoy a splendid community event.
TEDDY BEAR PARACHUTE JUMP AND FAMILY FUN AFTERNOON
Ordsall Church are holding a fun afternoon for all the family on Saturday 14th September. From 2.00pm to 5.00pm, teddy bears (and other well-loved cuddly toys) are invited to go along and parachute off the top of the church tower. Go and make your own parachute, then watch as Ted is raised up to the top of the tower, before floating down to the ground below! An experienced teddy emergency care team will be on hand to bandage any teds who need first aid. Other attractions include entertainment by local schools, home-made refreshments, games and activities. Scarecrow spotters and ride and striders are especially welcome.
