Scott Stone, 31, from Ordsall rode a near faultless motorcycle season to become the No Limits Club 600cc Premier Class Champion for 2021.

Run over 20 races at five different tracks, Scott rode his Kawasaki ZX6R to no less than 15 wins and four as runner-up, accumulating 471 points out of a possible 500; 244 points more than his closest rival.

Celebrating his victory at the final race meeting at Cadwell Park on Sunday 19th September, Scott emphasised his achievement was made possible through a team effort. Wife, Becky and main ‘spanner man’ Jason Hugill are essential members of the team, which also includes other members of his and Becky’s families, friends and sponsors. Scott’s main sponsors have been Specsavers, Retford and Decking Import, who have supported him since 2019. Technical support was provided by Joe Richardson’s JR Performance, a Kawasaki specialist, based in Tuxford. Joe’s other riders enjoyed success in other No Limits disciplines and British Superbike (BSB) support classes.

A difficult 2020, which was impacted by personal factors and COVID-19, saw Scott contest only two race meetings. His enthusiasm for the 2021 season was evident, but the change of motorcycle from a Yamaha R6 to the Kawasaki brought a fresh challenge. Round 1 was held on the Donington Park National track in April and saw Scott ride into three second places. He improved upon his best lap time in each race. Round 2 at Oulton Park in Cheshire yielded one third place and then two second places, again with better lap times. In the remaining five rounds, Scott was unbeaten in the Premier 600 Class and recorded new PBs at four of them. An outstanding year.

In addition to his 600 Premier success, Scott also contested a three hour endurance Race at the Ty Croes Circuit on Anglesey with his close friend, Will Ireland. Riding in alternating 45-minute stints, they completed 112 laps, before the race was stopped 11 minutes before the scheduled three hours. They finished third in their class and 14th overall of the 40 teams which took part, at an average speed of 61.57 mph.

For the future, Scott is hoping to contest some races at national level, for which sponsorship from local businesses will be greatly appreciated. Anyone interested can email scott-stone100@hotmail.com.
