The Squirrel Scouts Drey meets on Tuesday evenings during term time. Squirrels are for 4- to 6-year-olds. For more information, email Charlotte at dc.team@bassetlawscouts.org.uk.

Beaver Scouts is for 5¾- to 8½-year-olds and meets on Mondays. November began with a family-friendly fireworks event, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. The group also held a Space Activity Badge session. In their final session, the Beavers learned about trees, thanks to Chris, one of the adult volunteers. For further information about Beavers, contact 7thretford@gmail.com.

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, it’s time for Cubs (7½- to 10½-year-olds) and Scouts (10- to 14½-year-olds). Both sections enjoyed a fireworks and hot dog evening. Cubs have been working towards the Personal Safety Activity Badge.

All sections attended the Act of Remembrance in Retford. The Scouts made decorations for the group tree at St Swithun’s Christmas Tree Festival, displayed in the Lady Chapel.

The group is currently looking for more adult volunteers. Flexible volunteering opportunities are available, with much of the training now online, allowing it to be completed in one’s own time. Whether someone is a shift worker or can only volunteer once a month, they are encouraged to get in touch. All adults must complete a Scouting DBS and some initial training to begin volunteering.

There are still spaces available in some age groups. Anyone interested in their child joining the group is asked to contact Hazel at 7thretford@gmail.com or call 07958 696122.

Scout Christmas Post

The 7th Retford Scout Group would like to thank everyone for supporting Scout Christmas Post.

By now, all cards will have been delivered. The group’s volunteers worked hard collecting the cards from their special post boxes, sorting them, and ensuring delivery. Next month, the group hopes to provide an update on how much the scheme raised for the three Scout Groups involved.
