The festive season is upon us and the North Notts Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust has a programme of events to cheer up the darkness of December and see you through to the bright months of spring. First is their Social and Quiz Night on Thursday 13th December. This is a members-only event; tickets are limited and can be obtained from the reception desk at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, price £2.50. Fiendish quiz questions, fabulous buffet and a fantastic MC to ensure all goes well are promised. Try your skills, meet your friends and have a good time.
On 10th January, Janice Bradley OBE will update the group on fracking, its effect on wildlife and other matters of interest to those of us who care about the environment and the wildlife we share it with.

14th February sees Professor Philip H Warren of Sheffield University talk to the group about ‘Urban Ecology: Gardens, Greenspace and Global Footprints’. This should be of great interest to those of us trying to understand how to do our bit for wildlife in our own gardens.

On 14th March David Parkin, who is well known to members for his excellent talks on a birds, including endangered species like the spoon-billed sandpiper, will talk about Britain’s Seabirds. This will be followed by the group’s AGM on 11th April. They shall be looking for new members and new ideas so please start thinking ahead. The speaker is yet to be confirmed.
