North Notts Association of National Trust Members

The North Notts Association of National Trust Members’ winter programme of talks started with a well-attended talk by Maureen Taylor. Maureen gave a fascinating look back at life during the Tudor period. It was not about wars and battles and kings, but the everyday life of the population at that time.

She wore the full Elizabethan costume of a Lady of that time and her talk was both informative and amusing, covering the food, their furniture, their clothing and all the little details that we all find so fascinating. Members were glad that we don’t have to live like that now!

November’s talk was by David Skillen and entitled ‘The Gretna Girls and the Devil’s Porridge’.

Talks take place at the Crossing on Newcastle Avenue, Worksop and doors open at 7.00pm with talks starting at 7.30pm.

Forthcoming talks

  • 14th December: Beyond the Blue Horizon – Mike Ogden
  • 18th January: Beavers at the Idle Valley – Janice Bradley MBE
  • 15th February: A History of the Derwent Dams – Anthony Beard

Membership is £30.00 single or £55.00 joint, and covers seven talks from October to April. The summer outings are all paid for separately as and when they take place. National Trust members are welcome as visitors and pay £6.00 per talk.
