North Notts Association of National Trust Members

Indoor speaker meetings are replaced by outings for the North Notts Association of National Trust Members at this time of year, but these will resume in October when details of the 2022-23 programme will available to members.

The first summer visit in May was to Wentworth Woodhouse, followed by the gardens of Wentworth Castle. Drinks were served on arrival before a guided tour of the house, which is now benefitting from money spent and has many restorations works in progress. The building is extremely impressive and, for those who have never been, it’s definitely worth a look.

After lunch the group travelled to the second venue, where the display of rhododendrons and azaleas was breath-taking in the colours, varieties and size of all the plants and trees. Many keen gardeners were made extremely envious! The history of both venues is fascinating.

In June the group visits Nottingham Castle with a walking tour and on 7th July they journey to the Black Country Living Museum. Invitations for this and the following two visits have already been sent out to members.

The group is appealing for members to volunteer to join the committee to help arrange the speakers and visits, which do not just happen by accident – they involve a lot of work which would be made easier (and would also bring new ideas) if shared by more committee members. If you can help, please speak to any committee member.

Membership is £30.00 single or £55.00 joint and covers seven talks from October to April and five outside visits from May to September, which are priced separately.

Upcoming visits

  • 7th July: Black Country Museum
  • 18th August: Hull city tour
  • 13th September: The Ropewalk, Barton on Humber and Burton Constable
