Continuing the Live & Local season of live concerts in Ordsall Parish Hall, on Friday 25th February at 7.30pm, folk duo Megson, from the North East, visit to perform songs from their Teeside heritage. Megson have four times been nominated for BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and have won three Spiral Earth Awards. (Since 2004, Spiral Earth has aspired to be the leading voice in Folk, Roots and Americana music and beyond.) They were interviewed by Mark Radcliffe on Radio 2 last October about their latest album ‘Unknown Waters’.

The husband and wife duo bring an infectious mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars. Comprising Debs Hanna (vocals, whistle, piano accordion) and Stu Hanna (guitar, mandola, banjo), Megson have gained fame on the British folk scene not only for their arresting and intelligent songwriting, but for their exquisite musicianship and northern humour. As fRoots Magazine puts it, ‘if you don’t like the music here then you have a problem’. For further information visit www.megsonmusic.co.uk.

Tickets include a hot cottage pie supper (vegetarian option available; special diets on request) in the interval and cost £13.50, under-18s £8.00. They are available from Peter on 07951 253343 or 01777 706433. There will be a licensed bar. Ordsall Parish Hall is on Church Lane, DN22 7TU.
