July invites visitors to explore the best local ‘Open Gardens’ and snap away! An unprecedented 20 Nottinghamshire gardens, members of the charitable fundraising National Garden Scheme (NGS), will open their gardens and welcome visitors throughout July.

July’s garden openings coincide with a photographic competition to capture plantings of deep colour, scent and texture. Camera-loving blooms include roses, clematis, salvias, geraniums and philadelphus.

Delicious homemade teas or light refreshments are offered at the majority of events, from indulgent cream teas to sandwiches, soups and cake and garden owners may also arrange plant sales, craft stalls or live music. Children enjoy free entry unless stated on the NGS website, which should also be checked with regard to wheelchair accessibility and admission for dogs.

Details of all National Garden Scheme gardens opening in July and throughout the year can be found on the free ‘GardenFinder’ app, or on www.ngs.org.uk.
