Attendance has continued at a high level, with a great number of new members joining Retford and District Photographic Society and wanting to take part in club competitions. The club has enjoyed speakers on very diverse topics. Having had an insight into the wider world of photography with Ashley Franklin, members aimed for the stars with Dave Eagle and a talk on astrophotography.
Back down to earth, the club was fortunate indeed to hear from one of the rising young stars of the photographic world, Tesni Ward. Tesni has achieved considerable recognition for her stunning wildlife and landscape images. She has had creative results in beautiful and different images. She is an engaging speaker and the first to set members a challenge. Everyone was relieved that someone spotted the rabbit in the barren landscape and saved the rest of them from the indignity of becoming only the eighth club of 60 given the challenge to fail.
Members have run a skill sharing session which was much appreciated and the competition season has begun. They look forward to two more competitions in November as well as learning about photographic techniques and hearing from some of their fellow members who will be showing their work in a ‘Show and Tell’ evening.
The club always welcomes visitors when it meets at 7.30pm, on Monday evenings in St Joseph’s Hall, Babworth Road, Retford. The season runs until the end of April 2019. Please contact the club through www.retford-photographic.co.uk if you are planning to go so members can look out for you.
