The Friends of Headon Church aim to breathe new life into the medieval church of St Peter’s. This important historic building dates from the early 13th century and may be even older. The earliest documented record is from 1226, meaning that 2026 marks at least 800 years of the church’s existence. A series of events will take place throughout 2026 to celebrate this milestone.
On Friday 20th March, there will be a musical evening featuring three performances. Local folk duo and Morris dance musicians A Certain Age will be joined by Slurs and Trills, offering an eclectic mix of early Renaissance, Baroque, folk and klezmer music with cello, recorders and keyboard, and Curate’s Egg, a contemporary and traditional folk band performing songs including original material written by its members.
The concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.00 and are free for children under 12. Free hot drinks and cake will be available afterwards in the village hall. Donations will be gratefully received in support of church funds. Tickets can be reserved by calling 01777 248285 or purchased on the door.
